Co-design, specify and build of new bar for Arches club, arch 6, Glasgow. Project designed and run with Alistair Macauley from Timorous Beasties. Quarter dome light feature with DMX controlled settings and fades, using 'ethel' shades from One Foot Taller. 30mm translucent cast polyester bar top with LED back-lighting and acrylic joining strips. Back-lit vertical 'CLUC' bar front cladding, utilising laminated end-grain tropical hardwood ply and perspex.
This project was a quick turn around utilising all trades and specialist materials and fitters.
For example, the shallow radius was created on the substructure of the bar using a large router on a 10m router compass!
The bar is designed to have maximum space underneath the top and a large working area between the bar front and the rear gantry as thousands of club goers need served in rapid succession on a busy night.
The 4 main light features: the quarter dome pendant feature, the sub-lit bar top, the back-lit bar front and the rear gantry are all designed to be switched independantly to create the mood relevant to the night being promoted.
